About #FeedingYourSpark
THF has partnered with La Piccola Deli (Ticco Foods Limited) to distribute thousands of free food for home meals to GLF Schools in the most deprived areas and raise funds to increase sporting participation in disadvantaged areas.
There are 1,633,698 students who claim free school meals - this is an increase of 302,400 children in the last 18 months.
There is also a gap between those able to access sporting activity and those who are not with young people from disadvantaged backgrounds less likely to take up sport (46%) than those from higher-income households (66%).
THF aims to bridge the gaps that exist between those who are disadvantaged and those who are advantaged and create more opportunities for young people, whilst supporting their families.
We are asking our supporters to match the cost of the meals provided by La Piccola Deli (distributed by Ticco Foods Limited) and raise funds to be able to deliver more sports programmes and increase activity in disadvantaged areas.
#FindingYourSpark campaign, Summer 2021

#FindingYourSpark campaign, Summer 2021
Through the #FindingYourSpark campaign in the summer of 2021 we were able to raise funds to start a tennis programme with the LTA Youth Start programme at Chestnut Park Primary School in Croydon - which is in the bottom 28% most deprived areas of England with high free school meal rates of 41% (national average 19.7%). This programme will reach every child in the school and give them regular tennis coaching and allow them to experience all the benefits that sport provides.
We were also able to begin a table tennis programme at Meridian High School in New Addington, South London - which is in the bottom 18% most deprived areas and has high free school meal rates of 54%. This programme will deliver in-curriculum coaching, lunch-time clubs and intervention classes where students with additional needs can access specialist mentoring.
Through this campaign we are aiming to feed more young people in need and create more opportunities.
